Tower Tidings for the Week of December 24, 2017

Christmas Eve Services
Sunday, Dec 24th at 10a, 5p, & 7p

Join us for morning worship at 10a on Christmas Eve, and then come back with your entire family, friends, and neighbors to celebrate the birth of our Lord in either of our special candlelight services at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. O come let us adore him!

Amahl and the Night Visitors
January 5th, 6th, & 7th

The 3rd annual production of Amahl and the Night Visitors is coming up at First Congregational Church of Redlands! Performances will be Friday, January 5th at 7p, Saturday, January 6th at 5p, and Sunday, January 7th at 5p. Tickets are $10 per person (children 5 years and under are free) and can be purchased at the door. A pre-show craft and meet-the-cast will take place an hour before the Saturday and Sunday performances.

Amahl and The Night Visitors is Menotti’s tale of the three wise men who sought the Christ child by following a star. With humor, wonderful singing, and beautiful costumes, the story unfolds with spiritual meaning and miracle. The libretto is written in English because it had to go on American TV; Amahl first aired as an NBC special on December 24, 1951.

If your family will be in Redlands after the new year, we encourage you to come and join us in one of our performances of Amahl and the Night Visitors!

Congregational Christmas Card
Christmas Greetings! This year instead of buying cards and mailing them to people in our congregation, you can donate to Mexican Christian Children’s Aid and sign our large greeting card in the patio after church during the month of December. MCCA purchases and transports needed supplies to orphanages in Mexico once a month; let’s continue the tradition of our support to them this December. A mission committee member will be on the patio after church to receive your donation. Please make checks payable to First Congregational Church. Thank you for your generous gifts this season.

Women’s Book Club
Our holiday book is The Christmas Shoes by Donna VanLiere. It’s the story of a serendipitous meeting between a man losing his family because of his focus on professional achievement and material rewards and an 8-year-old boy whose mother is dying of cancer. Our next meeting is January 7th at 11:15 in the library.
